cushion engagement ring

To we want to go over some basic cushion engagement ring setting styles and how the setting impacts the look of the center stone. For this comparison we will use cushion cut diamond rings around similar carat weights. Some designs we will go over are pave bands, halo, and double halo rings.

    Pave Band
First up is this cushion diamond ring set on a pave band. Most notable is our RS-63 design. This design features a diamond wrap underneath the center stone. When looking at this ring a top view, the basket here does not make the diamond in the center appear larger. It is a detail you can really only view from the side. So in a pave wrap setting, the center stone’s size is true to it’s measurements. For those wanting something simple this is a great option.

    Hidden Halo
The hidden halo is the next one we will be looking at. This design features a basket holding the center stone however the basket new design for us and definitely a really modern look. The row of diamonds peaks out very slightly from underneath the center stone. This creates the illusion of a bigger center diamond from certain angles. It does not take away from the center stone but still gives an enlarged appearance

    Classic Halo
The classic halo is one of our most popular designs. This model has a row of diamonds around the top surface area of the diamond. This increases the look of your center stone by about 1 carat size depending on what size diamonds you use.

    Double Halo
The double halo cushion engagement ring is easily one of our most glittery designs. This ring design has 2 wraps of diamonds around the center stone and would increase the look of the diamond by around 2 carat sizes or more.

So which one is best for you?
If you like the the look of something very simple then a simple pave basket is great.

If you want to slightly increase the size of your center stone then a hidden halo is a good way to get a bigger look while still leaving the focus on the center.

The halo and double halo cushion engagement ring are going to the most sparkly and it becomes about the entire beauty of the ring as opposed to just the center stone!

  • The Cushion Engagement Ring

Is a cushion cut diamond engagement ring right for you? What is a cushion cut diamond?

The cushion cut diamonds have a rectangular or square shape, with rounded corners enhancing the diamond’s brilliance. The rounded outside edges make the diamond’s shape look like a pillow or a “cushion”. They were also known as “pillow cut” diamonds or “candlelight diamonds”, due to the use of candles to evaluate brilliance. There were no electric lights at that time. Cushion engagement rings are stunning and unique.

Cushion cut diamonds have been around since the 1800’s, long before the days of the precise cutting equipment that we use today. The cushion cut rose in popularity due to its ability to disperse candlelight more dynamically than other stones of the period. It has maintained its popularity through modern times.

The cushion cut is one of the most timeless cuts to this day.
With modern lighting and better cutting, the cushion cuts have been updated. Most cushion cut diamonds today are referred to as a “modified cushion cut”. They retain pillow shape of a traditional cushion cut diamond, but have additional faceting which increases brilliance.

  • Something You Got to Know About Cushion Engagement Ring

The Cushion Engagement Ring ring has been popular for over 100 years, making it an outstanding choice for vintage-inspired engagement rings. It also be called pillow cut diamonds, it have large facets that increase their brilliance and highlight the stone’s clarity. There are so many buyers being attracted to the antique feel combined with modern performance offered by the cushion cut. In despite generally less brilliant than round brilliant diamonds, cushion cut diamonds often have better fire, which is part of their appeal.

The similar shape leads people always compare cushion cut with the princess cut ring. The reason for this is that both the cushion cut and princess cut roughly resemble a square shape, but the similarities end there. The former has a softer gleam that some people compare to sparkling water or crushed ice. While the later typically has a brighter sparkle. Bearing mind that the quality of a stone largely depends on its color and clarity.

There are both pros and cons for cushion cut engagemnt ring. Given its soft, rounded-off edges, the cushion cut is perfect for a more original design. Believe me that Cushion cut is the way to go, if you want something more unique than the traditional Round cut or Princess Cut. On the other hand, some might notice that Cushion cut gemstones appear slightly smaller than those with the Princess cut and Round cut. Therefore i would highly recommended that selecting a slightly bigger gemstones to offset the illusion of a smaller cut will be perfect.

In the 1920s, a new modified cushion entered the market, with an extra row of facets below the girdle. However, whether the diamond has a standard or modified cushion cut doesn’t have a direct impact on its beauty or performance.
